Day 72 – Yesterday, while in China, I was chatting with a friend in Wyoming via Skype when he said “You go on vacation more than anyone I know.” While I have made travel a priority over the past three years, I have rarely gone on vacation. In fact, it was only during my long weekend to the Dominican Republic this year that I actually tried to disconnect. Even that didn’t work out so well.
Has America priced itself out of success?
Day 71 – Again, I woke up around 3 a.m. to knock out five to six hours of work. I’ve quickly discovered that productivity is quiet seclusion with censored Internet. A lack of Facebook and Twitter really drives a mind’s engine. Perhaps I’ll write on productivity tips tomorrow.
Today, I have a simple question – has America priced itself out of success?
An active, smart, cultural and hungry China
Day 70 – My first impressions of China are far from what I thought they would be. In the superpower’s capital, I expected to see soldiers and police lining the streets. What I found was a thriving capital showing exactly why China is booming.
From Coach to Dumplings
Day 69 – From Charlotte to Chicago, Chicago to Beijing, today’s flight was the longest we have ever taken. It was also the largest plane we have traveled on.
Why China? Why Now?
Day 65- It’s 10:00 pm. I’m at Donehue Direct.
Got here at 7:30 am. Still here.
Brain mush. Can’t write. Thinking hurts.
Okay, that’s enough whiney. I hate whiney people. I also hate when people don’t stop to think before writing. Or typing. I should quit that too.
Set Spending Priorities
Day 53 – He pulled the long black mass of fungus out of my ear.
And I felt instant relief. I can hear. My ear doesn’t throb. Today is going to be a fantastic day.
I find myself getting more excited about our upcoming trip to China. It will be our third international trip this year and the furthest trip we have ever taken.
Get Off Your Couch
Day 26 – “This is where the first shot hit. This was the second shot. This was the kill shot.” Today I had the pleasure of getting a quick tour of the JFK assassination zone in Dallas from a Kennedy buff. Don’t worry. This isn’t going to turn into a conspiracy theory blog.
I talk a lot about travel here. It’s become one of my passions. Everywhere I go I always get that “I cannot believe I’m standing here” feeling. You know what I mean. I can’t believe I’m standing where the twin towers fell. I can’t believe I’m at the Eiffel Tower. I can’t believe I’m at the Coliseum. I can’t believe I’m watching the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace. Next month it will be I can’t believe I’m standing on the Great Wall of China.
