This week in the pub

Day 194 – Today would have been my father’s birthday. He died around 15 months ago after a fight with cancer. More on him later, as he is the real motivation behind this blogging project. That’s going to take a whole lot of time and that’s something I do not have today.

I’m slammed, swamped, under water and in the weeds today. All of that, so I’ll just leave you with yesterday’s WACH Fox and pub versions of Pub Politics. Enjoy!

I found a home within our church

Day 191 – Last year I set a goal to get deeply involved in a church ministry by the end of 2011. I failed to accomplish that goal, but I wasn’t going to let another year pass by with another failure. I’m happy to announce that today we officially launched First Baptist Church of Columbia’s Internet ministry.

Lying with dogs, getting fleas

Day 187 – Another Pub Politics is in the history books. Episode 90. Just ten more until our big 100th episode blow-out. It will be epic. EPIC!

You’ve always heard – when you lie down with dogs, you are going to get fleas.

Pub Politics Does Tourism

Day 181 – Sometimes an uneventful evening is a blessing. Fortunately, this week’s edition of Pub Politics was fun, and stress free. We witnessed the return of Senator Jake Knotts, free from any controversy. Phil and I also got to talk about tourism and development with Nora Hembree-Battle and Nick Kremydas from the Myrtle Beach Chamber. Overall, it was a solid episode of Pub Politics, and we’re happy that it went as smoothly as it did.

Pub Politics goes green

Day 166 – This week’s conservation episode was really refreshing. Phil is a good friend of mine, and he’s pretty much the closest thing to a Republican you can find in a Democratic operative (sorry Phil).

He hunts, he fishes, he likes good beer and country. He’s a rather conservative fellow, as are many Democrats in this state. So having a discussion about true conservative values is always needed.

Those type of guys on both sides of the aisle make South Carolina a very conservation minded state. We don’t always show it, but go to NYC and tell me how the fishing is there. If you can breathe.

A strange Pub Politics

Day 161 – What a strange Pub Politics. While shooting a great episode with SC Senator Tom Davis, CNN reporter Peter Hamby and blogger Logan Smith, my face suddenly appeared on the TV screen above our heads. Pretty neat stuff.

Check out this episode, one of the bests we’ve ever done.

The Jon2012Girls

Day 153 – It’s Friday. I didn’t have a lot of time to write last night. It was extremely exciting to host presidential candidate Jon Huntsman’s daughters on Pub Politics. After the show we (not the daughters) went out for a few drinks and then I hit the sack without having time to write the normal daily blog post, so I’m posting and backdating this one. Like yesterday, I don’t have a lot of time to write so I’ll just leave you with this awesome video starring the at @jon2012girls:
