I don’t have enough time I don’t have enough time

Day 196 – Its an excuse that I cannot stand. I don’t have enough time.

We all have the same amount of time. Cliche, but true.

If I heard the excuse once today, I heard it a million times. It hit me from all angles.

You have enough time. What you do not have is time management.

Put out the fire and move on

Day 190 – I think some people exist just to cause trouble. Just to stir up drama. Just to be roadblocks. Just to start fires.

They exist in both our personal and professional lives. They are kinks in a system that could be productive otherwise.

Always follow through

Day 188 – Follow-through is what’s missing.

People promise. They fail to deliver.

Over-promise. Under-deliver.

Just pull the trigger

Day 185 – Last week I talked about making moves, and getting things done. Last week was the definition of stress. I had a really hard choice to make, and after some thought I pulled the trigger and made the move.

I already feel like it was the right thing to do and that choice is 5 hours in the making.

Influence Peddling

Day 182 – Guess what 365 divided by 2 is? That’s right – 182. I’M HALF WAY THERE!!

WOW! I cannot believe I’ve made it this far.

I spent last evening with Elizabeth and Joel and Anna Sawyer where Joel and I were honored for being two of Columbia’s most 50 influential people. Besides being the only two political consultants on the list, I was one of the youngest on the list at just 32-years-old. That’s pretty exciting.

Don’t be scared to make big moves

Day 176 – So, I’m taking a risk and I have every indication that it’s the right move. I am on a flight back from San Francisco, and I’m out of the bubble so I can actually reflect on what I did these past few days.

Every time I leave San Francisco, I feel as if I’ve learned something new. It’s a place where as uncomfortable as I feel some times out there, I can always learn. The town has a learning culture, which sometimes I feel isn’t as embraced in Columbia.

Stuck in Charleston for the rest of my days

Day 165 – This week has been busy for me. Either doing interviews, or traveling for clients had me bogged down. It was madness. One day, I got over 100 emails in an hour.  Getting to Charleston for the debate was like heaven.

Looking back at this week, I’ve gotten a lot done. Either being quoted in the Examiner, Businessweek or being interviewed on CNN, or going live on MSNBC, CBS News, Fox…eh, the list goes on.

Our first national TV hit

Day 160 – Today provided a first for the Donehue Direct team.

You never know what’s going to happen when you wake up in the morning. I certainly didn’t expect our first big national TV hit.

How many interviews can one man do in one week?

Wesley Donehue

Day 159 – I do not know how many interviews one man can do in one week, but I’m going to find out. No time to write today, but I thought you would be interested in these two quick interviews on WACH Fox today.

I’m soooo influential

Day 154 – I’m not going to lie. I’m pretty stoked. Today I was named one of the 50 Most Influential People of 2011 by Columbia Business Magazine. Columbia today, America tomorrow. I can only hope. =)

I know I got this honor mostly because of my political gamesmanship, but the fact that this was given by a business magazine really pumps me up. I’ve received a few awards in recent months but this one is really a biggie for me because my love of politics is giving way to a love for entrepreneurship and business. Don’t get me wrong, I do love politics. It’s in my blood. But building a real company, instead of some political hack-shop, is what I really want to do.
