Live Your Passion

Day 313 – Today I’ve been thinking a lot about my focus and what I’m truly passionate about. I told you yesterday about this focus journey my friend is taking. I’m not taking a full journey quite yet, but I am spending this week getting my ducks in a row. To get rolling I figured I should start with a list of things I’m passionate about. I pulled out some paper and came up with this:

Elizabeth
Travel
Internet
Business
Politics
God
Good food
Good drinks
Friendships
Working out
Innovating
Being a thought leader
Expanding my view of the world

Those were the very first things out of my head without thinking for more than 20 seconds. I’m sure that children will hit that list pretty soon, but it’s not there yet. Here are those same passions grouped into categories:

Business
Politics
Internet
Innovating
Being a thought leader

Travel
Good food
Good drinks
Expanding my view of the world

Relationships
Elizabeth
God
Friendships
Working out (a relationship with my body)

This one-year journey has taken me a long way. I’ve been able to step back and analyze what’s most important to me—my marriage, my friendships, my body, my relationship with God, the way people perceive me and time management. Doing more of what I love and less of what I hate is easier said than done.

Between all of this soul searching and talk of passion, I’ve produced some real results. I’ve built a business, won some awards and won some races. I’ve started making national news appearances and I’ve traveled a whole lot more. What I haven’t done is taken time to look at everything from a holistic view and figure out my true focus.

I told you before that I spent most of my life running away from something. Now I think it’s time to start running toward something. But what?

The answer is simple—I want to run toward my passion and live it.

What is my passion? That is my next decision. It starts with that list.

W.
