Day 143 – I certainly didn’t make all of my resolutions become reality. I dropped the ball on a good many of them. This week is my ‘year in review’ as we head into the new year.
Last January I resolved to travel more, both within the United States and abroad. I certainly did that.
The year started off pretty slow as I was busy with the South Carolina legislature, but it picked up and I spent more time on airplanes this year than I ever had before.
It started in March with the trip to Austin for the SXSW conference.
It wasn’t my only trip to Texas this year. I also got to visit Dallas for the first time.
(Book depository where Lee Harvey Oswald too his shot)
We took a long weekend trip to the Dominican Republic.
I took a few different trips to San Francisco and was even able to take Elizabeth for wine tastings in Napa and Sonoma valleys.
I also took a trip with my crew to Florida where I killed my first animal, a wild boar.
This summer we took our second trip to Europe where we visited Amsterdam…
London…
And Dublin.
While in Ireland we took a quick day trip out to Blarney.
Then this fall we took our biggest trip yet when we visited our friends in Beijing, China.
While in Beijing we took the mandatory day trip out to the Great Wall of China.
2012 promises even more travel. Opening up a 2nd Donehue Direct office in San Francisco and it looks like I already have a business trip planned to Istanbul, Turkey.
Last night Elizabeth and I sat down and made a list of all the places we want to visit in the next few years. I’m determined to make that list reality and I’ll share with you in a couple weeks. It’s a big world and I want to see it all.

PS – While writing this blog post, Elizabeth booked our first trip to Vegas. BOOM!
