Setting off on my greatest journey

Day 136 – Since I started Donehue Direct, technology has been my number one concern. Politics is second, because the message is irrelevant if it’s not being pushed through the right channels. It’s a concept that has been a disadvantage to conservatives for far too long, and I’ve made it a point to educate and advise our clients on every simple (and complex) aspect of technological mastery possible. I’ll admit, the Republican Party is not on the cutting edge, and in this era it might not possibly kill us, but it will kill us. Being a great candidate, having great policy, and being electable is increasingly irrelevant if you’re unfamiliar with “The facebook and the twitter”.

So, in January we’re planting a new seed at Donehue Direct. We’re establishing a new Donehue Direct branch on the west and a whole new strategy to compliment that. They say that when you’re in an industry, it’s best to be in belly of the beast. We’re a social media and technology firm. As social media is a relatively new concept, the percentage of 40-60 year olds linked in will one day be what the percentage of 15-25 year olds is now. It’s a growing field. Unless the zombie apocalypse happens tomorrow, it’s set to grow tremendously and in that event I hope there will be a few of us around to tweet about how much we hate zombies running around everywhere.

So to complement this drive to be the best, we’re gonna take a chance. You don’t get political experience living in Aiken, but in Columbia you do. We’ve gotten our political savvy here, so now we’re looking to expand our technological expertise and go to the source of technological achievement- the west coast.

San Francisco is on the Bay, within 15 miles of Palo Alto, Oakland, Santa Clara, and San Jose. This area is also known as “Silicon Valley”, or in other words it’s the belly of the technological beast of the 21st century. We’re doing it big. Real big. And we’re starting up a new office out there in January.

They say that goal setting should be practical and measurable. Goals should be realistic. Judging by our current situation, I think my goal to own the most effective political and Internet consulting firm in America is a reality. In my opinion, we’re pretty dang close to the former. We manage successful campaigns every day. We get a few losses here and there, but we have a record that speaks for itself.

Columbia is a great place to meet and connect with conservative candidates and engage us in that process- but it has its limitations. Now we’re going to the source of technology.

As things move forward, we’ll keep yall updated on the progress and challenges that arise. We have faith, and sometimes that’s all you need.

San Francisco, here we come.

- Wesley Donehue

PS – No, Elizabeth and I are not moving to San Francisco fulltime. We plan on being there at least one week a month right now.
