Day 103 – There is a scene in ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ where the main characters enter the Lotus Casino and begin partying with the crowd. They are given lotus flowers, which they continue eating all night.
Except, it wasn’t just one night. What they thought was a night was actually five days. They could have stayed there forever, stuck in that one place, eating the lotus flower and never leaving the casino.
No, I’m not in some stage of depression. I just feel like I’ve been eating those lotus flowers for too many years. I came to Columbia after graduating high in 1998. I left for 3 months in 2004 to run a State Senate race and then went to Michigan for 10 months in 2006 to run a US Senate race. Besides those 13 months, I’ve been in Columbia for 13 years. The same people, the same bars, the same restaurants, the same everything.
I’m not sure what it is, but something is telling me to stop eating that flower. I’ll let you know as soon as I figure out what that something is.
