Politicking in Charleston

Day 95 – Hey guys. I really don’t have a lot of time to blog today. I’m on the road with Congresswoman Michele Bachmann in Charleston. Let me tell you…there are worst places to wake up in the morning than Charleston, South Carolina. Elizabeth and I drove down last night, had dinner on King Street and now we are working from a hotel room.

I had the chance to spend some one-on-one time with Congresswoman Bachmann earlier today. I’m incredibly relieved tonight because she’s such an intelligent, kind and real person. I get so sick of working with fake politicians who really could care less who you are. To them, you are just a tool being used to get the job done. Eventually they’ll just throw you out.

Don’t get me wrong. Not everyone is like that. Senators Harvey Peeler and Shane Massey are two of my closest friends and I know that they’d be there for Elizabeth and I if anything ever happened. There a many more too. But you know what I’m talking about… those politicians who are looking through you and never paying attention to what you are saying. They are the center of the world and they could care less what’s happening with you.

I was just delighted today that the Congresswoman took time to chat and to ask questions about me. She even cracked on my striped socks. That’s the kind of person I want to be working with.

Anyway, there’s a long road to hoe. The primary is months away and the polls have been anything but static. Perry is falling apart. Cain is about to fall apart, which will give Newt a big bump. Then the press will rip Newt apart for his inconsistent record and someone else will skyrocket. Voters right now want a Romney alternative and I’m putting my money on the candidate who has been both conservative and consistent.

PS – I know that I promised not to talk about politics too much, but I don’t know how to talk about my life without telling you these things.
